Abstract:

Abascal interviews discuss Mexican society and Christianity, struggles between conservative and progressive religious groups, divisions within Catholics, relations between the government and religious groups, and Bishop Sergio Méndez Arceo. Other topics include criticsm of the Revolution's policies and their impact on society, Abascal's work with the UCE Publishing Company, communism and progressive leaders, his travels in the U.S. as a leader of the Sinarquista movement in the 1940's, etc. Gasca Villaseñor interview includes biographical data, employment history, the Casa del Obrero Mundial, the anarcho-syndicalist movement in Mexico, participation in the Revolution, Venustiano Carranza, Luis Morones, and related topics. Salazar interview discusses his family and educational background, work as a printer and labor organizer, the Casa del Obrero Mundial and the labor movement, Mexican labor movement during the revolution, Alvaro Obregón, Samuel Gompers, Venustiano Carranza, Luis Morones, and the status of labor in Mexico in 1969.
